Frequently Asked Questions
Wallpaper isn't a $15 impulse buy—it's a commitment. These questions exist because the answers actually matter. We've kept our responses direct and honest, which means some of them are "no" or "that's on you." Read them before ordering, not after something goes wrong. Ordering and Product Basics
1. Should I order a sample first?
Yes. Strongly recommended. Screens lie about color, and you need to see how the pattern looks in your actual lighting. Our samples ($5 each) let you test material quality, evaluate color accuracy, and confirm the design works in your space before committing to full coverage. It's the difference between loving your walls and living with regret.
2. What's the difference between Traditional, Peel & Stick, and LUXE materials?
Traditional is paste-the-wall wallpaper—the most permanent option with the longest lifespan (10+ years), but requires mixing paste and careful technique.
Peel & Stick has a self-adhesive backing for easy DIY installation and clean removal (3-5 years).
LUXE is our premium peel & stick with a thicker, more forgiving backing that's easier to apply smoothly and repositionable during installation (5-7 years). Choose based on your commitment level and DIY comfort.
3. How do I calculate how much wallpaper I need?
Measure your wall width and height in inches (here's how to measure correctly →), then use our wallpaper calculator on each product page. It'll calculate exactly how much you need based on our 19" roll width. We recommend adding 2-3 inches to both dimensions to account for wall irregularities—better to trim excess than run short mid-install.
4. How wide is each roll?
19 inches. That's the standard width from our print partner, Wallmates. This means you'll need multiple strips to cover most walls, which is typical for wallpaper installation. Our calculator automatically accounts for this when determining how much you need.
5. Can I return wallpaper if I don't like the color?
No. Every order is custom-made to your exact specifications and enters production immediately after payment. We don't accept returns for change of mind, wrong color choice, or "it looked different on my screen." This is exactly why we offer $5 samples—so you can verify the color works in your space before ordering full coverage.
6. Will the colors look exactly like they do on my screen?
Probably not. Monitor calibration, screen settings, and lighting all affect how colors appear digitally. Printed wallpaper will also vary slightly due to natural printing variations. We work hard to represent our designs accurately, but we can't guarantee exact matches between your screen and the final print. Order a sample if color precision matters to you—which it should.
7. How do I know if the pattern will work in my space??
Order a sample. Tape it to your wall and live with it for a few days. Look at it in morning light, afternoon light, and evening light. See how it interacts with your furniture and existing decor. If you're still second-guessing after this, the pattern probably isn't right for you—and that's fine. Better to know now than after you've ordered 60 square feet.
Installation
8. How hard is it to install wallpaper myself?
Depends on which material you choose and your comfort level with DIY projects.
Peel & Stick and LUXE: Most people handle this successfully as a DIY project. It's like applying a large, very expensive sticker—peel backing, position carefully, smooth out bubbles. We provide detailed installation instructions with every order, but if you've never installed wallpaper before, start with Peel & Stick.
9. Will this work on textured walls?
Not well. Peel & Stick and LUXE require smooth, non-textured surfaces for proper adhesion. Textured walls prevent the adhesive from making full contact, which leads to peeling and failure. You'd need to skim coat or prime your walls first. Traditional wallpaper can work on lightly textured walls, but heavily textured surfaces are still problematic. 10. What if I mess up during installation?
Before you start installing: Inspect your entire order immediately when it arrives. Unroll all panels, check for defects, verify color accuracy, and confirm pattern alignment. If something's wrong, contact us right away at sales@fringewallco.com.
After you start installing: You're on your own. We cannot accept returns or offer refunds once installation begins—at that point, you've accepted the product as-is. This is why inspecting before installation is critical. Once paste touches wall or backing peels off, that's it. Still, contact us and see if there is anything we can do to help. We want you to be happy!
11. Do you offer installation services?
Not directly, but we can recommend professional wallpaper installers in many areas. Contact us at sales@fringewallco.com with your location and we'll connect you with local pros if available. For Peel & Stick and LUXE, most customers successfully DIY. For Traditional, we recommend hiring a professional unless you're experienced with wallpaper installation.
Measurement and Sizing
12. What happens if I measure wrong?
You're responsible for the consequences. We manufacture wallpaper to your exact specifications, so if you provide incorrect measurements, we cannot offer refunds or replacements. Measure at multiple points (walls are rarely perfectly straight), add 2-3 inches to account for irregularities, and triple-check your numbers before ordering. Read our wall measuring guide →
If you realize you made an error immediately after ordering, email sales@fringewallco.com with "ORDER CHANGE REQUEST" in the subject line. We'll try to help if production hasn't started yet, but we can't guarantee changes once manufacturing begins (typically 1-3 business days). See our full policy at Terms & Conditions.
13. Should I order extra?
Yes. We recommend adding 2-3 inches to both width and height when calculating your needs. Walls are rarely perfectly straight, corners are rarely perfect 90-degree angles, and you'll need wiggle room for proper pattern alignment. It's better to trim excess material than to run short and need to place a second order mid-installation. A little extra material is cheap insurance.
Shipping and Timing
14. How long until I receive my order?
Production time: 1-3 business days from order confirmation
Delivery time: 2-7 business days via FedEx from Mesa, Arizona
Total: Approximately 3-10 business days from order to your door
These are estimates—actual timing may vary based on production schedules and shipping conditions. You'll receive tracking information once your order ships. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays.
15. What if my order arrives damaged?
Contact us immediately at sales@fringewallco.com with your order number and photos showing: (1) exterior box damage, (2) wallpaper damage, and (3) any relevant packaging issues. We'll work with you to file a carrier claim and arrange a replacement. Don't install damaged wallpaper—once you start installation, we can't help you. Document everything and reach out right away.
Returns and Warranty
16. What's your return policy for custom wallpaper?
We don't accept returns for change of mind, wrong color choice, or design preference changes. Every order is custom-made to your specifications and cannot be resold—returned wallpaper gets recycled, not restocked. If your wallpaper arrives defective or damaged due to manufacturing error, we'll replace it free of charge within 30 days. Full details at Terms & Conditions.
This policy is exactly why samples exist. Order them. Use them.
17. What if there's a printing defect?
Contact us immediately at sales@fringewallco.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number, detailed description of the defect, and clear photos showing the full print and close-ups of the issue. If it's a legitimate manufacturing defect (printing errors, incorrect dimensions, damaged upon arrival), we'll replace it free of charge. Normal color variations between screen and print, installation errors, and buyer's remorse don't qualify. Full defect policy at Terms & Conditions.
Critical: You must inspect your wallpaper before installation begins. Once you start installing, warranty claims may be denied.
Order Changes and Additional
18. Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?
Maybe—if we haven't started production yet. Production typically begins within 1-3 business days of order placement. Email sales@fringewallco.com immediately with your order number and "CANCELLATION REQUEST" or "ORDER CHANGE REQUEST" in the subject line. We'll do our best to accommodate, but we can't guarantee anything once manufacturing starts. Full policy at Terms & Conditions.

19. Will this damage my walls when I remove it?
Peel & Stick and LUXE: Designed for clean removal without damaging walls or leaving residue—assuming your walls are properly prepared and painted. Freshly painted walls need at least 30 days to cure before application. Low-quality paint or improperly primed drywall may experience damage during removal.
Traditional: More permanent. Removal typically requires a professional and may damage the wall surface underneath. This is standard for traditional wallpaper—it's meant to stay put.
If you're renting or plan to move soon, stick with Peel & Stick or LUXE.
20. Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we only ship within the United States. International shipping introduces complexities with customs, duties, and extended delivery times that we're not equipped to handle yet.
